Designed for Learners

The course is designed to support learner success through clear navigation, accessible resources, consistent weekly structure, and engaging instructional design.

Project Overview

This project involved developing and organizing a 16-week online Instructional Design Fundamentals course for undergraduate education students in Moodle. Course content was structured into weekly modules to create a consistent learning experience and make materials easy for students to locate and navigate. The course incorporates principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and usability to support accessibility, engagement, and ease of use throughout the learning experience.

My Role

I organizeded course materials provided by the course developer into a cohesive Moodle course built around weekly modules. I applied Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and usability principles to improve content organization, accessibility, and navigation. I also created how-to documents and videos, configured the gradebook, and ensured instructors could monitor student progress and students could easily access all course materials.

Audience

Primary audience: Undergraduate education students
Secondary audience: Course instructors

The course was designed to support undergraduate students learning the fundamentals of instructional design while providing instructors with an organized environment for delivering content, grading assignments, and monitoring student progress.

Format

16-week undergraduate online course organized into weekly modules in Moodle. Each module provides a consistent structure for accessing instructional content, activities, assignments, and other course resources.

Challenge

Students needed access to all of their course materials in one centralized location with a structure that made content easy to find and navigate. The course materials also needed to be presented in an engaging and accessible way to support online learning. At the same time, instructors needed an efficient way to manage course content, grade student work, and monitor student progress throughout the semester.
